The exhibition area is a traditional watermills
park, in a place nearby Edessa Waterfalls area promoting the water
values using from hi-tech presentations to eco-guides and local products
degustation.
Visitors can, among other things, try their hand at
assembling a plumbing system, operate pumps and learn about the workings
of the dam and water as energy of life element workshops which operates
the water mills and water-driven factories.
Here you can see everything
to do with the use of water energy in the city of Edessa, from its
founding to the present day, including industrial monuments, the ancient
paths, the byzantine churches and the water channel systems.
The Open Air Water Museum of Edessa and opened
partially from Sep 1999 during European Days of Water, and the
exhibition it self was designed by the help of DRM, AuTH and famous
greek architects.
In the main area of Mills today there are in operation
the Aquarium-Reptile House, the Mill of Flavours, the Mill of Water &
the 5 human sences, the Environmental Center, the Open Air Summer Cinema,
the Ceramics & the Paintings workshops.
The museum has also an
observation platform with excellent views over the Edessa valley, and a
pretty garden, both of which have already become extremely popular with
